A shooting that left a young man dead and three others with non-life-threatening injuries appears to have been a targeted act of violence, a homicide detective says.

Douglas Parker, who was in his early 20s, was killed in the shooting outside a housing complex on Walpole Avenue, near Greenwood Avenue and Gerrard Street East, on Saturday night.

Gunshots rang out as children played in the area and many people were enjoying the warm weather.

Two other victims remained in stable condition in hospital Sunday, while a fourth has been released, said Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux.

All of the victims are known to each other, Giroux told CP24 reporter Cristina Tenaglia.

Police are looking for one suspect, he said.

Investigators remained at the complex Sunday, as they processed the scene for evidence and canvassed the neighbourhood for witnesses or anyone with information about Toronto’s latest homicide.

Giroux said Parker, who died at the scene, wasn’t a resident of the complex and he did not have any recent contact with police.
