York Regional Police are scouring a Vaughan neighbourhood to try and find a vulnerable 66-year-old man who’s gone missing.

A command post has been set up at Forest Run public school in the Dufferin Street and Rutherford Road area as 20 police officers search for Samuel Adomako.

Adomako was last seen at his Vaughan home on April 11 around 3 p.m. Adomako has Alzheimer’s and police and his family say they’re concerned for his safety.

“We rely very strongly on the public’s help in these circumstances,” Acting Sgt. Trevor Draves told CP24.

Draves said police are now following up on an unconfirmed tip that Adomako may have boarded a TTC bus headed to Toronto after two bus drivers reported seeing someone matching his description.

“If we do ascertain that it was him down in the city we’ll be working closely with Toronto Police Services to further the investigation down there to hopefully find him in the shortest period of time and in the best possible condition,” Draves said.

He said police are reviewing TTC surveillance footage to try and verify the sighting.

A police helicopter is also assisting in the search.

While Adomako has gone missing before, he’s usually been found at local hangout spots. He usually calls to let his family know where he is and he’s never gone missing for such a long time, police say.

Adomako is described as a black male with a medium build, standing five-foot-six. He is bald with brown eyes and a scar on his left cheek. He was last seen wearing a black sport jacket, white dress shirt, brown/beige pinstripe pants and brown/orange dress shoes.
