The death of a 43-year-old woman killed in a Mississauga hotel fire has been ruled a homicide, Peel police announced Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the Quality Inn, located at 50 Britannia Rd. E., shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a woman without vital signs in one of the hotel’s rooms.

She was transported to hospital where she later died.

On Monday, police identified the victim as Evelyn Bumatay Castillo, of Thornhill.

Post-mortem results, along with the continuing police investigation, led investigators to determine that Castillo died of foul play.
