Coun. Doug Ford says he and Mayor Rob Ford have no plans to participate in a reality show on the election campaign, despite a suggestion from a former city hall reporter that one is in the works.

Andrew Krystal caused a stir on Thursday morning when he appeared on the podcast “Humble & Fred” and said that he has a “still active deal” with a U.S. network to produce a six-episode reality show on the Ford’s, but Doug Ford subsequently told CP24 that the idea is in fact far from reality.

“He (Krystal) approached us and we said ‘No’ 100 times, but he just does not listen,” Ford said. “We aren’t interested.”

Doug Ford told CP24 that as many as 20 to 30 networks in the U.S. and Canada have approached him about a reality show or documentary following the mayor, but he said that he has rebuffed each and every inquiry to date.

“We’ve been offered up to seven-figure deals and refused,” he said.

Krystal, meanwhile, told “Humble & Fred” that Doug “wanted and was leaning towards” participating in the show but the mayor declined and then checked himself into rehab shortly thereafter.

The show would have been produced by Toronto’s Fadoo Productions with a budget of $440,000 per episode, Krystal said.

“Right now it seems dead, unless Doug Ford runs (for mayor),” he said.

Doug Ford addresses sex tape rumours

During his appearance on “Humble & Fred” Krystal also weighed in on of the more never-ending rumours at city hall, including one about a sex tape involving the mayor.

Doug Ford was quick to dismiss the rumour, laughing that his brother would be the last person he would want to see in a sex tape.
