Toronto’s embattled mayor says he lied to the media about his past drug use because he was embarrassed.

Embroiled in a crack cocaine scandal that won’t go away, Rob Ford made the confession in a new self-produced YouTube video series that he launched with his brother, Coun. Doug Ford, on Monday.

In a clip titled “Rob Ford comes clean,” Doug Ford asks his brother a "hardball" question that they claim was emailed to them by “Sandra in Bangkok.”

The question was, “Why did you lie about your substance abuse problem when you were initially asked?”

Ford responded by once again denying claims that he is an addict and denying claims that he is still a drug user.

“A) I do not have a substance abuse problem. Did I experiment with drugs? Yes, I have. Why did I lie? I think everybody in the world has lied. Because I was embarrassed, I didn’t want to tell the truth,” Ford says in the video. “That’s the only answer I can give. That’s as straight forward as I can be. I’m not a drug addict, I don’t use drugs. Have I in the past? Yes.

“And when they ask me, it’s very, very humiliating in front of the world to say yes, and everybody has lied, so maybe people can tell me why do you lie?" the mayor added. "People either lie to cover up (and) people lie because they’re embarrassed, that’s why I lied.”

In November, Ford surprised reporters when he admitted to smoking crack cocaine. The admission came after several denials.

In other clips, the Fords crow about their records at city hall and debate who will win the NHL's Stanley Cup and the FIFA World Cup this summer, although Rob Ford erroneously says the global soccer competition is coming up "in a couple years."

The YouTube series, called Ford Nation, is the latest self-promotional venture for the Ford brothers, whose weekly Newstalk 1010 radio program was taken off the air amid the mayor's scandal.

Weeks later, the Fords' foray into television lasted one episode. They hosted “Ford Nation” on Sun News Network but the station pulled the plug after one episode because of production costs.
