TORONTO -- A former Ontario cabinet minister forced to resign in the face of a sexual misconduct allegation claims there was no investigation into the matter, despite the government saying one was conducted.

Jim Wilson has told City TV he was never contacted or interviewed by anyone probing the accusation that led to his departure from the Progressive Conservative cabinet and caucus in last fall.

Wilson returned to the legislature today for the first time since his resignation as the Tory economic development minister and time in rehab for addictions issues.

Government House Leader Todd Smith says there was an investigation into Wilson's alleged conduct but would not commit to releasing it.

Wilson says he will continue to represent his constituents as an independent legislator.

Days after Wilson's departure, Premier Doug Ford said an investigation into the matter was underway but would not identify the firm conducting the probe.
