Peel police have charged a 22-year-old man in connection with multiple sexual assaults that have occurred in Mississauga in recent weeks.

According to police, three teens were in a park in the Barbertown and Mississauga roads area when a man jumped out of the bushes and sexually assaulted and threatened them at around 4 p.m. on June 30.

The man fled on a bicycle after he was scared off by a passerby walking in the area, police said.

Subsequently, on Tuesday, at around 9 p.m., a female was walking with her boyfriend in the same area when they were confronted by a man.

The pair were threatened with a weapon and confined, and the female was sexually assaulted, police said.

Following the assault, the couple called police and provided a detailed description of the man.

According to a police release issued Wednesday night, a suspect was located in the area shortly after the incident.

Randy Blackwood, of Mississauga, faces 14 charges including sexual assault with a weapon, five counts of forcible confinement, and three counts of sexual assault.

He appeared in a Brampton court Wednesday.
