A man has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was pinned underneath a streetcar in the city's east end.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Broadview Avenue and Gerrard Street at around 8:15 p.m. for reports of a collision involving a streetcar and a pedestrian.

Paramedics say the patient, who is believed to be in his 60s, was found underneath a northbound streetcar on Broadview Avenue and was rushed to a trauma centre after being extricated.

Toronto police's collision reconstruction unit was on scene Saturday night but the TTC and police have released few details about the accident.

The victim's condition is not known at this time.
