A ceremony will be held at a park in King City on Sunday, August 14 to unveil a permanent memorial to the three children and one man who were killed in a drunk driving crash last September.

Nine-year-old Daniel Neville-Lake, his five-year-old brother Harrison, their two-year-old sister Milly and their grandfather Gary Neville were all killed when their minivan was T-boned by another vehicle at Kirby Road and Kipling Avenue in Kleinburg on Sept. 27.

Following the crash the driver of that vehicle, Marco Muzzo, was found to have a blood alcohol level that was more than twice the legal limit. He eventually pleaded guilty to four counts of impaired driving causing death and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The memorial at Kettle Lake Park was built because the mother of the children, Jennifer Neville-Lake, grew up in the King City area.

In a press release, organizers say they wanted Neville-Lake and her husband Ed to have “a permanent place to honour their children.”

The memorial includes four trees as well as four plaques dedicated those killed in the crash.

Organizers say they expect hundreds of people to attend the dedication of the memorial on Sunday, including Jennifer Neville-Lake and Ed Lake.

The dedication gets underway at 11 a.m.

The Neville-Lake’s will participate in a dove release ceremony to honour their deceased children at 11:30 a.m.
