An elderly woman has died and a tractor-trailer driver has been charged with careless driving causing death after an accident in Mississauga this afternoon.
According to police, the tractor-trailer struck the woman in the intersection of Burnhamthorpe Road West and Wolfedale Road at around 1 p.m.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 47-year-old man from Quebec, was unharmed.
Burhmathorpe Road was closed from Mavis to Wolfedale roads for much of the afternoon as a result of the police investigation.
It has since reopened.
