TORONTO -- Ontario's Special Investigations Unit continues to probe the death of a pedestrian who was killed after being hit by a police cruiser in northwest Toronto.

The SIU says the cruiser was part of an escort for a funeral procession when a woman was struck Saturday afternoon near the Woodbine Mall at highway 27 and Rexdale Blvd.

The agency is now identifying the woman as 64-year-old Satyawatti (Janet) Katryan.

The SIU says six investigators, a collision reconstruction expert and three forensic investigators are looking into the incident.

The agency investigates incidents involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
