Rob Ford will not be attending the city’s Remembrance Day event tomorrow due to his ongoing health issues.

The mayor, who has been diagnosed with liposarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, recently completed his third round of chemotherapy and is now recovering at home, Doug Ford confirmed to CP24.

Dan Jacobs, Ford's chief of staff, said that the mayor didn't want to leave it until tomorrow to decide if was feeling well enough to attend.

“The ceremony is very important to him," Jacobs said in an email to CP24.

Last month, Ford said doctors informed him that although his cancerous tumour had not grown in size, previous treatments had not been successful in shrinking it either.

At that time, Ford said he was expecting to undergo three to five more rounds of chemo.

The mayor was also recently on antibiotics to treat pneumonia.
