The woman on trial in connection with a fatal stabbing in downtown Toronto’s PATH system has a new lawyer, CP24 has learned.

Defence attorney Calvin Barry confirmed he is no longer acting for Rohinie Bisesar, as she has instead opted for a court-appointed lawyer.

“These cases are difficult and I hope the matter makes its way through the court system,” Barry said Wednesday.

Bisesar is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Rosemarie Junor.

Junor, a medical technician who had recently gotten married, was stabbed multiple times inside a Shoppers Drug Mart in the underground PATH system on Dec. 11, 2015. She died of her injuries six days later.

Bisesar was ordered to undergo a mental health assessment on April 22 after she exhibited bizarre behaviour in court, including talking over the judge and claiming that some sort of device had been implanted inside her.

Barry earlier said her former client had been seen by a psychiatrist in jail.
