KINGSTON, Ont. -- Provincial police are at the scene of a crash that saw a tractor-trailer carrying canned pumpkin dump part of its load on Highway 401 near Kingston, Ont.

They say the truck smashed into the cement median around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and skidded along the barrier before it burst into flames.

The 48-year-old driver was ejected from the truck onto the paved shoulder.

Police say the Brampton, Ont., man is in hospital with serious injuries.

The highway's westbound lanes remain closed in the area (west of Joyceville Road) this morning and are expected to reopen around noon.
