Toronto police say a woman was arrested after a cup of juice was allegedly thrown in Mayor Rob Ford’s face at a street festival Saturday afternoon.
Police say the alleged assault took place around 4:30 p.m. at the Taste of Little Italy Festival, an annual event on College Street between Bathurst and Shaw streets.
Paid duty officers at the event were alerted to incident and arrested the woman.
The circumstances leading up to the incident were not immediately clear.
Police say Shannon Everett, 27, of Toronto has been charged with assault. She’s scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on July 23.
