NEW DELHI - Media say police briefly detained three Indian bodyguards for Oprah Winfrey after they scuffled with local TV journalists.

The American talk-show host was visiting the Hindu pilgrimage town of Mathura on Thursday. It is about 90 miles (145 kilometres) south of New Delhi.

Press Trust of India reported police detained three Indian bodyguards after local journalists said their video equipment had been damaged in a brawl. No one was hurt, and there was no indication that Winfrey's American bodyguards were involved.

PTI says the three guards were released after apologizing in a letter.

It is Winfrey's first trip to India, where she has been filming for her new show "Oprah's Next Chapter."
