OSHAWA, Ont. - The owner of a dog training business in Oshawa, Ont., has been charged with cruelty to animals after several pet owners complained to police.

Durham regional police were called to FACW K9 Training on May 12 after a dog owner was told their pet was lost.

That investigation led to one charge of obstructing a peace officer.

Police say several dogs were removed from the business on Thursday for their safety, and the owners were informed about the investigation.

Investigators say the new allegations involve the mistreatment of five dogs, including allegedly kicking them, temporarily hanging one with a leash and allowing two dogs to fight.

Craig Wright, 42, of Oshawa has been charged with four counts of cruelty to animals and was held in custody for a bail hearing.
