Toronto police chief Bill Blair has reconfirmed on CP24's "The Chief" that the designated protest area during the G20 summit will be north Queen's Park.

Last week, Coun. Joe Pantalone told CBC News Toronto that Queen's Park would be the protest site but police did not confirm that.

Earlier plans to make Trinity Bellwoods Park a protest site were axed after uproar from the local community.

The plan had irked residents near the park, which is roughly two kilometres from the site of the G20 meetings at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Last year's G20 meeting in London also used a designated protest zone.
