Durham police are asking for the public's help in identifying the person or persons behind building a confinement room in an abandoned home in Pickering.

On Nov. 29 surveyors discovered recent renovation work had been done in the basement of the abandoned home set for demolition on Concession Road 7.

Officers who responded to the call said they discovered what they believe to be a room designed to hold a person captive.

Police are trying to determine who constructed the room and its purpose.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 888-579-1520 ext. 5407 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
