Police have identified the victim of Monday's deadly shooting on Driftwood Court as 31-year-old Darnell Grant.

Grant died Monday night from a gunshot wound to the torso after being attacked near Jane Street and Finch Avenue. He was found with gunshot wounds to his head and back and later died from his injuries in hospital.

Toronto residents Jermaine Gager, 18, and Corey Smelie, 20, have been charged with Second Degree Murder and several firearms-related offences. Both were scheduled to appear in a Finch Avenue court on Wednesday morning.

Police say the two jumped out of a white minivan that was last seen driving westbound on Finch Avenue.

They are still looking for a third suspect in the murder.

Grant is Toronto's 52nd homicide this year.

The shooting happened at 21 Driftwood Ct., but police say that there appears to be two different crime scenes.

Driftwood Court is the home of several public housing units, and has been the scene of numerous shootings in recent weeks. William Junior Appiah, 18, died last week after being gunned down on a nearby basketball court.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
