A Toronto police officer and a robbery suspect are recovering after they were injured during a scuffle early Monday morning.

Police said the altercation occurred as officers were attempting to arrest a robbery suspect at Jane Street and Queens Drive, near Highway 401, at about 12:30 a.m.

The officers had to use pepper spray to subdue the suspect, who resisted arrest, police said.

One of the officers ended up getting some of the spray in his eyes, while the suspect suffered minor injuries, police said.

The suspect hasn't been formally charged.
