PHILADELPHIA - Michael Vick is on an NFL practice field for the first time since serving his prison sentence.

Vick ran the scout team offence in Saturday morning's walk-through practice with the Philadelphia Eagles. He's expected to do more when the team returns to the field in the afternoon.

A three-time Pro Bowl pick during six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Vick served 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting ring and was conditionally reinstated last month by the NFL after being out of action since 2006.

He signed a one-year deal with the Eagles on Thursday for US$1.6 million with a team option for a second year at $5.2 million.

Eagles coach Andy Reid says Vick definitely is in shape enough to handle practice and the team will bring him along accordingly.
