TORONTO - Some residents left homeless by a seven-alarm fire at a Toronto apartment building are returning home for the first time since last week's blaze.

The fire at 200 Wellesley St. E. displaced 1,200 residents.

For the last week, they've stayed with family and friends or at a local community centre.

Building manager Toronto Community Housing said it will let tenants back home in waves because some require safety arrangements due to special needs.

At least 120 firefighters and 27 fire trucks were on the scene after the fire broke out last Friday.

The building was examined for structural safety before residents could return.
