CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For the first time in nearly a month the Toronto Marlies failed to come away with at least a point.

Zach Boychuk scored once and set up two more as the Charlotte Checkers beat the Marlies 4-1 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Toronto's last regulation-time loss came back on Dec. 21 against the Milwaukee Admirals -- a stretch that saw them go 7-0-3 in their past 10 outings.

Ben Holmstrom, Justin Shugg and Chad LaRose also scored for the Checkers (15-20-5).

Connor Brown scored the lone goal for Toronto (17-16-6), giving him seven points in his past six contests. In 39 games this season the right winger has 31 points, which is good for second spot in AHL rookie scoring.

Charlotte's John Muse made 36 saves for the win as Christopher Gibson stopped 18-of-21 shots for the Marlies.
