TORONTO - John Carver resigned as head coach of Toronto FC on Saturday for personal reasons.

The team offered no further details in a release and said it would not comment further until after Sunday's game against the Kansas City Wizards at BMO Field.

Assistant coaches Chris Cummins and Nick Dasovic will handle the coaching duties Sunday, with a decision on the head coaching position to be made early next week.

Carver raised eyebrows this week when he sat in a private box for Wednesday's 1-0 win over visiting Chivas USA.

The 44-year-old was hired as head coach of Major League Soccer's Toronto FC on Feb. 1, 2008.

The team was 11-15-10 under his guidance.
