TORONTO - Toyota Canada has issued a voluntary safety recall of thousands of 2011 model Sienna minivans.

It says the brake light switch could become deformed, which could make the brake lights stay on.

It could also lead to brake dragging, noise or vibration and, if not fixed, the brakes could become less effective.

The company says the more than 12,000 vehicles concerned were made before November 2010.

Owners of the recalled minivans will receive a letter by mail giving them details on how to get the problem repaired.
