The TTC has appointed its first Chief Customer Service Officer as the service hopes to better meet the needs of consumers.

The transit commission announced Chris Upfold was appointed to the new post on Monday.

Upfold, a Canadian, was previously with the London Underground where he held many positions since he started in the UK in 2002.

His most recent position was as Head of Revenue and Inclusion. Upfold also worked  as a Customer Environment and Experience Manager.

TTC Chair Karen Stintz says she's excited for Upfold's arrival. Stintz also says there are many ideas he can work on implementing from the TTC's Customer Service Advisory Panel.

Upfold starts with the TTC on May 30.
