A male TTC collector in his 50s has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was shot a couple of times in the chest or neck inside Dupont Station.

It happened around 7:20 p.m.

According to Const. Tony Vella, the victim was shot during the commission of a robbery.

Police are looking for a silver four door vehicle in connection with the case. It was last seen going northbound on Spadina Road.

Trains are bypassing Dupont Station as police investigate.

"It is very upsetting when any of our employees are hurt especially in a case like this and our chief concern right now is with the employee," TTC Spokesperson Brad Ross told CP24 Sunday evening.

Ross said officials with the TTC are doing "everything" they can to assist police with their investigation, including handing over surveillance camera footage that may provide some clues.

TTC Chief General Manager Andy Byford said he has called a meeting for tomorrow to review TTC collector security in light of the incident.

"I will not have people attacking my staff," he said.
