A man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a minivan and pinned up against a wall outside Zellers at Bridlewood Mall.
The incident happened near Finch and Warden Avenues on Wednesday at about 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve when the mall was filled with last-minute shoppers.
Const. Mig Roberts says the driver of the van has been charged with impaired driving, and it doesn't appear that he tried to avoid striking the pedestrian.
"There's no indication of (the van) braking," says Roberts, adding that the driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The van did not crash through to the store's interior, and an accident reconstruction team is on the scene.
