Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty's history as Ontario premier has served him well -- a new poll finds that voters believe him to be the most trustworthy party leader on the campaign trail.

The Nanos Research survey, which was conducted on behalf of CP24, CTV and the Globe and Mail, found that 28 per cent of people believe McGuinty could be trusted.

Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak didn't trail far behind, garnering about 23 per cent of the vote.

Fourteen per cent named NDP Leader Andrea Horwath as the one they trust most and three per cent bestowed that honour to Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner.

However, nearly 33 per cent (32.8) of respondents said they either don't trust any of the leaders or know which leader could be considered most trustworthy.

McGuinty has been premier for two terms (eight years) while Hudak and Horwath are relatively new leaders of the opposition.

The poll also asked respondents which party leader had the best vision for Ontario.

Once again, McGuinty edged out Hudak with 29 per cent of the vote compared to 26 per cent support.

However, the poll's margin of error is 3.1 per cent, putting the leaders side by side on this front.

Thirteen per cent of respondents said Horwath had the best vision for the province while three per cent threw their support behind Schreiner.

Another 13 per cent of respondents said none of the leaders have a vision that is well suited for Ontario. Seventeen per cent remain undecided on the issue.

One thousand Ontarians over the age of 18 were chosen at random to answer these questions through a telephone survey between August 10 and August 13. This poll is considered accurate 19 times out of 20 with a margin of error plus or minus 3.1 per cent.

Respondents were asked a number of questions about their thoughts on the election, the leaders, the issues and the parties. The findings of the survey have been released sporadically since Sunday evening. Links to those findings can be found below.

Stay tuned to CP24.com tomorrow morning as we release the final chapters of our election poll.
