CP24.com readers were asked to share their Remembrance Day stories with us, whether they participated in the war or grew up with a loved one in service. These are their memories and the photos that have defined their experience.

Memories

This story is about Mr. Edward Wilson - a very much loved grandfather and father.

My grandfather, who is still very much alive and kicking, served with the Merchant Navy during World War II.

Among other recognitions, he's received the Atlantic Star, 1939-45 Star, Newfoundland Volunteer Service, and War Medals.

For the last few years, he represents his legion and fellow veterans by laying a wreath during the York University ceremony.

For many years he's also marched in the Veteran's Parade held at the CNE.

He's a proud Canadian and stands tall each November 11th. His uniform showing the wartime service and dedication, his eyes showing the stories he's shared with us over the years, the poppy a reminder of the comrades he's lost.

On behalf of my mom, sister and I (and the rest of the Wilson family), we support him on Remembrance Day. We thank him, and all other veterans, for their service, heart and strength to give the grateful Canadians a wonderful country to live in.
