One person is in hospital following a fire near Yonge Street and Highway 407 in Markham early Tuesday.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Colonsay Road at about 2 a.m. The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
It's believed the fire started in the attached garage and spread to the house.
A man who was home at the time is being treated for smoke inhalation and is expected to be OK, officials say.
The initial estimate pegged the damage at $200,000. The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating.
Meanwhile, firefighters were called to a blaze inside a high-rise apartment building at 10 Boultbee Ave. in Toronto's east end shortly after 4 a.m.
There are no reports of injuries and the cause is unknown.
