Driving around the city this weekend might take a bit longer than usual thanks to a number of events taking place in the downtown core.

Canada’s Walk of Fame ceremony and the annual Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon are both taking place this weekend.

Here are some road closures to take into consideration:

The eastbound lanes of Front Street East will close between Yonge and Scott Street at 7 p.m. Friday for the Canada's Walk of Fame ceremony.

On Saturday, Scott Street from Wellington Street to the Esplanade will also be closed for the event. Both roads are expected to reopen at 11 p.m. Saturday once the event concludes.

20,000 people are expected to participate in the annual Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, half marathon and five-kilometre walk and run.

The marathon and half-marathon will start at 8:45 a.m. and the five-kilometre race will begin at 8 a.m.

Some roads will close Saturday in preparation for the event.

Between Saturday 12 p.m. and Sunday 7 p.m.

Bay Street will be fully closed between Queen Street West and Dundas Street West on Saturday but the closure will extend Sunday to Lake Shore Boulevard.

Side streets will also be closed due to the event, including Hagerman Street, Elizabeth Street, Albert Street, and James Street.

Starting Sunday at 4 a.m. until 11 a.m.

University Avenue will be fully closed between Dundas Street West and Front Street West
Smaller side streets will also be closed, including Armoury Street and Chestnut Street

Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed to traffic starting at 5 a.m. Sunday, between the Don Roadway and Windermere Avenue. That stretch of the boulevard will reopen at around 12:30 p.m.

The remainder of the route along Lake Shore Boulevard, from Coxwell Avenue to Woodbine Avenue., will close from 8 a.m., until 2:30 p.m.

The following streets will be closed from 8 a.m., until 11 a.m. Sunday:

  • University Avenue, from Dundas Street West to College Street
  • Queen's Park Crescent (west/east), from College Street to Bloor Street West
  • Bloor Street West, from Bay Street to Bathurst Street

The following streets will be closed from 8 a.m., until 3 p.m. Sunday:

  • Queen Street East, from Woodbine Avenue to Beech Avenue
  • Eastern Avenue, from Kingston Road to Jarvis Streer
  • Bathurst Street, from Bloor Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West

Queen's Quay will be closed between Bay Street and Parliament Street from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
