Durham Regional Police say an 80-year-old man found dead inside a Pickering home on Tuesday evening was murdered.

Officers were initially called to a residence on Memory Lane at around 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday for a sudden death.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased male victim with obvious signs of trauma.

An autopsy conducted on Wednesday then determined that the victim, John Murray of nearby Everton Street in Pickering, was the victim of a homicide.

Durham Regional Police say they are continuing to investigate the homicide and are looking to speak to anyone who has knowledge of Murray’s activities prior to Tuesday night.

Members of the Forensics Identification Unit also remain on scene collecting evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Moore (ext. 5326) or Det. Haight (ext. 5247) of the Durham Regional Police at 1 (888) 579-1520.
