The Toronto Police Service’s human trafficking enforcement team says a 20-year-old man was arrested Monday for allegedly forcing a teen girl to work as a prostitute for more than a year.

Investigators say a 17-year-old female was forced into the sex trade when she was 15 and during a 16-month period, she was taken to various hotels within the GTA to perform sexual services.

Police allege the woman was also required to hand over her earnings to the accused.

According to police, 20-year-old Jemaal Wilson, of no fixed address, faces a number of charges in connection with the case including trafficking in persons under 18 years old, exercising control of a person for prostitution, assault, and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.

Investigators say they believe there may be more victims and ask anyone with information to call (416) 808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
