A 23-year-old Mississauga man was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle collision in Pickering on Friday morning.

Police say a vehicle with four passengers was travelling northbound on Brock Road near Pickering Concession 9 at around 10:15 a.m. when its driver attempted to pull off the roadway to check directions.

At that point, police say a northbound vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Toronto woman struck the car from behind, causing one of its passengers to suffer a serious head injury.

The other four occupants of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to Uxbridge Cottage Hospital via land ambulance.

Police say the driver of the other vehicle and her child were checked out by paramedics at the scene and released.

The road conditions were favourable at the time and police say that alcohol has been ruled out as a potential factor.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Det. Const. Ashfield of the Collision Investigation Unit at 1 (888) 579-1520 ext 5226.
