Here's what's happening around Toronto this weekend.

DVP, other roads closed

The Don Valley Parkway will be shut down for spring maintenance from 10 p.m. Friday night to 6 a.m. Sunday. Other major road closures will be in effect Sunday for the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon.

Weather

While the temperatures keep climbing as we move further into spring, this might not be the best weekend for a picnic. A high of 12 C is expected Saturday and Sunday, with rainy periods predicted to last on and off through the weekend.

Jane’s Walk

Jane’s Walk is an annual series of locally led walking tours inspired by the late urbanist Jane Jacobs. A large variety of walks will be held around the city May 3, 4 and 5. Most are free. More info here.

Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon

Some 14,000 participants from over 50 countries are expected to take part in the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon Sunday. While the marathon is the main event, there will also be a half-marathon, a 5K run and a 5K walk. The marathon begins at Mel Lastman Square at 7:30 a.m. Participants will run south on Yonge Street before switching to a series of other side streets south of Eglinton Avenue. The run will finish at Ontario Place. Significant road closures will be in place along the route. For safety, participants are advised to leave ipods and other music devices at home. Gluten-free Expo

Billed as “Canada’s largest gluten-free event,” the expo takes place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Sunday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature hundreds of gluten-free product. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Kids under 10 are free, but must be supervised by an adult.
