Police are investigating a robbery at a gas station in North York overnight.

It happened at an Esso near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue at around 2:30 a.m.

Const. David Hopkinson told CP24 that a man walked into the store and demanded money.

According to investigators, the suspect indicated that he had a weapon but no weapon was seen.

Police say the male suspect fled the scene following the incident.

A store employee was injured during the robbery but police say the injuries were not serious.

The suspect has been described by police as a black male who is approximately six feet tall with a medium build and pigtails on each side of his head. Police added that the man was wearing a black jacket, black pants and is believed to be in his mid-20s.
