Toronto Paramedics say a man in his late 20s was shot in the back in the Jamestown area of Etobicoke on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the corner of John Garland Boulevard at 3:56 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a male who was shot.

Paramedics arrived on scene to find man in his late 20s suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. He was rushed to a hospital trauma centre and is in serious condition.

Police closed Kipling Avenue between Albion Road and Westhumber Boulevard to allow for an investigation. Albion Road was closed between Finch Avenue West and Todd Brook Drive.

Police said they are investigating two separate crime scenes. Investigators say the man was shot near Albion Road and Kipling Avenue, but was located by police south of the intersection on Kipling Avenue.
