Toronto Police are investigating after a two-alarm fire burned four cars at a used car dealership in the Keele Street and Finch Avenue area overnight.

The fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. at the back of Quality Used Car Wholesales at Tangiers and Toro roads.

Firefighters say the blaze didn’t touch the building on the property. However four additional cars were damaged by heat from the fire.

Speaking with CP24 Monday morning, the owner of the business said his private security cameras caught a vehicle pulling up in a laneway around 2:30 a.m. with someone inside the vehicle then throwing what looked like a Molotov cocktail into a new Lexus.

Police say they are investigating the fires as suspicious in light of similar fires that took place over the weekend not far from the dealership.

Police said Sunday morning that they received several calls about vehicle fires in the Jane Street and Wilson Avenue area. Some of the vehicles were set on fire in the driveways of homes.

It’s not yet clear if the fires in the two areas are connected.

Still, neighbouring businesses said they’re concerned.

“I’m scared right now because we have a used car dealership close to here,” neighbouring business owner Sam Honormand told CP24. “I’m shocked right now about what happened here.”

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating both fires.

In the meantime police are asking area residents to keep an eye out for suspicious activity in light of the fires.
