A Newmarket man is facing a slew of charges, including an impaired driving charge, after a woman was struck and killed Sunday with a vehicle police say was stolen.

Police say a man and a woman were crossing Yonge Street at Dawson Manor Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. Sunday when a southbound Dodge Journey ran a red light and struck the pair.

The 34-year-old woman and the 38-year-old man were both taken to hospital, where the woman died of her injuries. The man was treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Police said Monday that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

A suspect identified as Colin Little of Newmarket has been charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failing to provide a breath sample and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was scheduled to make a court appearance Monday.
