Toronto police are trying to identify a suspect after a female sex worker was choked and sexually assaulted in the Regent Park area.

The incident happened on the evening of Oct. 17.

According to police, a man in a white SUV approached a female sex trade worker who was standing on the sidewalk. The woman got in the car with the man and was driven to a secluded area.

Once there, a violent struggle ensued, during which the woman was choked and sexually assaulted, police said.

The woman was able to escape when the man drove away.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 40s. He was bald and clean-shaven. Police believe he is violent and dangerous and anyone with information about his whereabouts is advised to call 911 rather than approach him.
