A Toronto police officer has been injured in a two-vehicle collision in North York.

It happened in the intersection of Don Mills Road and Fairview Mall Drive, just north of Sheppard Avenue East.

The circumstances surrounding the collision were not immediately clear.

“I can’t get into the details of the investigation at this point in time,” Toronto police Sgt. Paul Strangways said at the scene.

The male officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries, a representative with Toronto police said. The driver of the other vehicle was also injured in the crash.

“Both were transported to separate hospitals, and both are getting the care that they need at this point in time,” Strangways said.

Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours as police investigated. The area has since reopened.
