Durham police say they will meet Monday to discuss their “next move” in the ongoing search for missing Whitby man Jeffrey Boucher.

Dozens of officers and volunteers have been searching for the 52-year-old high school teacher since he was reported missing Jan. 13.

The search initially focused on a 15- to 20-kilometres radius around Boucher’s home, but has since expanded to include a large swath of land around several known running routes used by Boucher.

Boucher’s family believes he left home to go for his usual run, although no one saw him leave.

“There is a regularly scheduled meeting tomorrow (Monday) to take stock of where we are and we will be evaluating the return of our efforts and what the next move should be,” Insp. Nick Lisi told reporters Sunday. “We continue to search because there is so much ground to cover and there are always new places to go, but there is always the potential that it could be called off.”

Police have received a number of tips from residents who believe they spotted Boucher out for his morning run Jan. 13, however those tips have not yet been substantiated and police say they can’t rule anything out.

“We have been able to eliminate large geographical areas due to the work of our ground and air efforts, but at this time we still do not have any concrete leads,” Lisi said Sunday.

Boucher wasn’t carrying his wallet, identification or a cellphone when he left home.
