Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has released the name of a man who died at Guelph General Hospital last week after getting into an altercation with police.
The altercation between 36-year-old Brandon Scott Duncan and police happened inside the hospital’s emergency room on the afternoon of May 20.
The agency now has eight investigators and four forensic investigators assigned to probe the incident.

The SIU is an arm’s-length agency that investigates anytime police are involved in an incident where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
