Surveillance footage has been released showing two suspects and a vehicle after a 17-year-old was fatally stabbed in Etobicoke in February.
The stabbing took place at 551 The West Mall, south of Rathburn Road on Feb. 3 at around 7:10 p.m.
Officers arrived to find a teen suffering from stab wounds and the boy was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
He has since been identified as Saed Keyliye, 17, of Toronto.
Speaking with reporters at a news conference Monday, Det. Andy Singh said that Keyliye went to the address where the stabbing took place with two friends after arranging a meeting with the suspects.
“What I can tell you is that this was not a random encounter. It was a pre-arranged meeting,” Singh said.
He said he couldn’t elaborate on how well the suspects and the victim knew each other.
“Shortly after they met there was an altercation that resulted in Saed being stabbed,” Singh said.
His friends were not injured in the incident.
Singh said that investigators are now hoping that three surveillance footage clips will help police identify the suspects.
In the first clip, Keyliye is seen running away from the first suspect toward the front of the building.
The second clip shows both suspects walking toward the front of the building.
A third clip shows a suspect vehicle – a grey, four-door Honda Civic – proceeding westbound on Rathburn Road as it flees the area.
Police said both suspects are described as males in their late teens. They have brown skin and dark hair and stand between five-foot-eight and five-foot-10 with thin builds
“We’re asking for the public’s assistance in helping identify the two suspects seen on video here,” Singh said.
He said police are also looking to speak with anyone who has information about the suspect vehicle or any witnesses who saw the events take place.
Singh also addressed the suspects directly and urged them to surrender to police.
“To the suspects in this matter, I encourage you to do the right thing – contact a lawyer and turn yourself in,” he said.
