A 34-year-old Toronto man faces six charges in connection with the alleged trafficking of a 21-year-old woman throughout the GTA, Toronto police say.

The Toronto Police human trafficking enforcement team says that starting in Jan. 2015 a woman was forced into prostitution by the accused.

He gained control over her by allegedly assaulting her and threatening her, police allege.

The accused drove the woman to various areas in the GTA, and “maintained control of her” while receiving an unknown amount of cash from clients.

Police said the victim reached out to them in August.

On Tuesday, Delbert Victorine was arrested.

He faces charges including trafficking in persons, assault with a weapon, assault and acquiring a material benefit from sexual services.

He appeared in court at 1000 Finch Avenue on Tuesday.

Police believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward.
