Toronto police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old Toronto man last month.

Douglas Parker and several of his friends were getting out of a cab at 66 Walpole Avenue, near Greenwood Avenue and Gerrard Street, at about 8:50 p.m. on May 24 when multiple gunshot rang out, hitting members of the group outside a Toronto Community Housing complex.

Parker was pronounced dead at the scene while his friends received non life-threatening injuries.

Conrad Grizzle, 20, is wanted for one count of second degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Homicide investigator Det. Joyce Schertzer said that investigators, with the help of the guns and gangs task force and the emergency task force, tried unsuccessfully to bring Grizzle into custody on Monday night.

During a news conference at police headquarters on Tuesday morning, Schertzer aimed comments directly at Grizzle and anyone who may be helping him evade arrest.

"There are criminal consequences to providing him comfort, shelter, assistance in any way, and those who harbour Conrad Grizzle will be prosecuted accordingly," she said.

"The chief of police has afforded our investigative team every resource available to bring (Grizzle) into custody."

Schertzer encouraged the 20-year-old Toronto man to turn himself in, adding that border officials and neighbouring police forces have been provided with his photo.

Police confirmed that Parker, who did not live in the housing complex where he was gunned down, was the intended target of the shooting.

Schertzer said that Parker and Grizzle were known to one another and there was a preexisting dispute.

Grizzle is considered armed and dangerous and police are warning residents to avoid contact with the man and call 9-1-1 if they spot him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
