Two men were rushed to hospital after shots were fired in Scarborough Friday morning.

Police responded to a call about the shooting in the Eglinton Avenue and Markham Road area around 11 a.m.

Two men, aged 25 and 27, flagged down a police cruiser at Dunelm Street and Markham Road and told the officer that they had been shot while in a vehicle, police said.

The men told the officer that they were shot by men from another vehicle who fled the scene.

The two were taken to a trauma centre in serious but stable condition, Toronto Paramedic Services said. Police said both men had gunshot wounds to the upper body and described their injuries as non-life-threatening.

Markham Road is closed from Blake Manor to Eglinton Avenue as police canvass the area for witnesses.

The suspects are still outstanding.
