Tamil Canadians here in Toronto are reacting to the end of a 25 year civil war in Sri Lanka by continuing to hold a candlelight vigil outside the U.S. Consulate.

A reported crowd of more than six-thousand has once again gathered on University Avenue. Toronto's Tamil Community is demanding the Sri Lankan government allow western media into the conflict zone.

They also want the government to allow humanitarian aid workers in to help the thousands of people who have been injured in the violent clashes.

Sri Ranjan, the president of the Canadian Tamil Congress says many Tamils in Toronto have lost loved ones in the fighting.

"So these people who are Canadians, they deserve some kind of sympathy from the government," he says.
